As a Campus Organizer, you’ll be at the forefront of building a brighter future for all of us - protecting our remaining wildlife and wild places, tackling the plastic waste crisis, helping students register and make plans to vote, and more. We’re hiring campus organizers to work on over 100 college campuses each semester to help students get organized, mobilized and energized and start building a greener, healthier future for all of us.

Key Responsibilities

As a semester campus organizer, you’ll work for a semester-term with one or more college campuses alongside passionate student activists as you help them develop and run strategic campaigns on some of the biggest issues our society is facing. Key responsibilities include:: 
  • Recruiting and inspiring hundreds of students to take action.
  • Helping students run strategic campaigns. Recruit and train students to run campaigns such as eliminating single-use plastics, protecting our remaining wildlife and special places, making college more affordable, and more.
  • Building a coalition. Work with student volunteers and interns to build a diverse, invested coalition of organizations.
  • Training students to be effective social change leaders, using skills such as generating grassroots support and coordinating lobby days and news conferences.
  • Building a strong, sustainable, student-funded and student-run organization on campus by fundraising, building relationships with key players on campus, and building our organizational brand.

Qualifications

We’re looking for candidates who
  • Have an interest in environmental, public interest and/or student issues, and have leadership experience on a campus or in your community. 
  • Are looking for a short-term position to learn the ropes of organizing on important issues.
  • Are goal-driven and results-oriented.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Are driven, work well with all kinds of people, and aren’t afraid to get outside their comfort zones.
  • Are passionate about making positive change. Change takes time, and is often incremental; we’re looking for people who are excited to work hard every day, even if it’s just for one small step in the right direction.

Compensation and Benefits
This position is approximately 3-4 months. Pay and benefits are prorated for the length of your position, based on this target annual package: The target annual compensation range for this position is $37,000-$43,347 and depends on location, experience, and start date. Our benefits package for short-term staff includes medical insurance for employees and dependents after 90 days on staff, paid sick time (60-72 hours/year depending on location, prorated for the length of your position), and a commuter benefit program. We also offer excellent training and opportunities for advancement.

We’re hiring organizers to work on college campuses in Arizona, California, Connecticut, D.C., Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington state, and Wisconsin.
